Y MountainLine Insulated Windbreaker is a light weight yet durable mountain jacket designed to be a less weather-dependent alternative to a light down jacket. Because this jacket is padded with the synthetic insulation material Vivo Performance: Eco, it will maintain its insulating power also in damp conditions and if it gets wet, it is an easy task to dry it. Synthetic insulation is also self-supporting material, meaning it allows for less seams and thus less chance of cold bridging. Vivo Performance: Eco is also made with 93% recycled polyester. As the name says this jacket provide great protection against those cold winds. The helmet compatible hood with double storm adjustments also come ... s in handy when the wind picks up and you need some extra protection to your head. In terms of fit, the jacket is given a generous and comfortable shape to fit on the outside of a shell jacket. Vivo Performance: Eco Insulation

Vivo Performance: Eco Insulation is a European made polyester insulation, which is developed to maintain good breathability while keeping you warm. It comprises a patented perforation with very small holes within the insulation, increasing breathability by 30 % and allowing moisture to escape, thus providing more comfort for the wearer. The holes are of a unique size: Visible enough to notice a difference but too small to allow air to circulate; they maintain the full insulation properties of the material. The small holes also provide a 4-way stretch within the insulation with a fast recovery which allows it to be combined with performance fabrics.

Vivo Performance: Eco Insulation is made in Europe from 93 % recycled fibers. The fibers are extruded from used plastic bottles and then recreated into insulation.

Polyester normally uses fossil resources for its production. By re-using existing material streams we can save fossil resources and reduce the energy demand as well as climate emissions.

The reason why mainly PET bottles are used is due to their availability and their purity in terms of material type. No other waste stream offers that big volume of basically the same identical raw material without any impurities from other material inputs. Furthermore, we can also reduce plastic waste as these material streams are being utilized again.

PFAS-free

Bergans products with water-repellent functionality have no intentionally added PFAS in the surface treatment. PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are a large group of chemicals that have traditionally been widely used in water-repellent DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatments. The treatment causes water and dirt to bead up and roll off the surface rather than penetrate the fabric. PFAS break down very slowly in the environment and are therefore often referred to as “forever chemicals”. They can accumulate over time, both in the environment and in living organisms, and several PFAS compounds have been shown to pose a risk to human health and the environment. Since 2016, Bergans has been actively working to phase out PFAS-containing substances from our products and replace them with PFAS-free treatments. All membranes we use are already PFAS-free. The water-repellent performance of the outer fabric will gradually diminish with use. As a result, the outer fabric may absorb more moisture, which can reduce breathability and comfort – even though the garment remains waterproof.
