Join the children in Husøy kindergarten! 💛
Husøy is a small island (approx 1 km long and 500 meters wide) in the Øyfjord northwest of magnificent Senja with just over 300 inhabitants. The weather is harsh on Husøy and the oldest houses are cordoned off permanently. Husøy is a fishing village with a farming and wild fish company that delivers most of the resources the Barents Sea has to offer. There are many beautiful hiking areas, small and large mountain peaks to climb around Husøy and on the whole of Senja.
In Husøy kindergarten this year there are 14 children, 6 over 3 years and 8 under 3 years. Here we find a small world of several nations from Norway, Poland, Croatia and Portugal. Most parents work in the freezer at the fish reception of the cornerstone company Brødrene Karlsen. The local newspaper Folkebladet reports that over the next 10 years, 1 billion NOK will be invested in Husøy. There will be a hotel, new shops, apartments, a fire station, expansion of the fishing port and a rescue boat station.
